Going the extra Mile
My friend and big brother in the Lord, Norman Smith, is a person who really does go the extra mile. He has demonstrated this to me time and time again since I have known him. And, if you haven’t been following his KO 100 FaceBook page, he plans to run another ninety-nine miles after the first one. Why in the world would he do that? To help people in need.

Siloam Home for Orphans and Widows
Beginning at 10:00 a.m. (JST) on May 22nd, Norman will commence a one-hudred-mile ultra-marathon in order to raise money for the Siloam Home for Orphans and Widows in Sathupally, India, a ministry started by our former pastor at Siloam International Christian Church in partnership with a pastor in Sathupally many years ago. (A good summary of the goals and purpose of the run can be found here on the ABWE blog.)
Though Covid-19-related restrictions are being lightened here in Japan, there will not be cheering crowds and very few, if any, spectators besides the five or six people who will crew the run, including myself. However, we believe there will be dozens if not hundreds of people praying for and rooting for Norman as he attempts to run from coast to coast across our island of Kyushu. Please pray for Norman and for his support team, keeping in mind that the run begins this coming Thursday evening for those of you who live in North America.
If you are interested in giving to support the Siloam Home for Orphans and Widows, you may donate either via ABWE International’s page or or through this Snowball Fundraising page.
Praise:
- for Norman and others who are working to support the ministry in India
- for my new (and yet old) job
Please Pray:
- for Norman’s safe, successful run
- for wisdom for Azusa and I as we continue to try to get to the U.S. for prefield
- for our children to grow in knowlege of Jesus Christ
We thank you for your prayer support!
